Mediation vs. Litigation
Mediation provides an alternative method of resolving disputes. Mediators give advice for both parties so that they can come to a mutual agreement without having to step foot in the courtroom. Litigation, on the other hand, is heard in a formal courtroom by a judge and both parties have their own legal representation.
Our Employment Mediation Services
At Rukin Hyland & Riggin LLP, our practice extends beyond litigation. Peter Rukin and John Hyland not only serve as attorneys but also serve as mediators, focusing on mediation of employment matters. John and Peter bring to their mediations, years of experience in litigating on both sides of employment matters. Such experience gives them insight into how both sides of a dispute may view the situation. Peter and John can provide mediation services throughout Northern California in all employment matters ranging from the in-house resolution of workplace disputes to the mediation of cases in active litigation.
Peter is a member of the mediation panel for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and has regularly mediated cases, both for the Court and privately, since 2002. John obtained certification as an employment law mediator from Cornell University’s School of Industrial Relations. Learn more about them here.
